Covid-19 Alert Levels
There are no restrictions on the size of gatherings for Mass under Covid level 1. However, those coming into our churches are encouraged to scan the QR code at the main doors to aid contact tracing in the event of a community outbreak, and to use the hand sanitiser provided. Currently we are not receiving Holy Communion from the Chalice as a precaution.
In the past, Covid level 2 has restrcited the size of gatherings to 50 people. Under this condition, those wishing to attend Mass must register online, using the link below…
Mass Times and locations under Covid level 2 are as follows:
Sacred Heart, Addington
Sts Peter & Paul, Halswell
If gatherings are restricted to less than 100 people, Sunday Masses are likely to be cancelled. Please check this website or our Facebook page for updated information should Covid levels change.
If you are unable to come to Mass, you can watch the Mass online at the diocesan YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbDyKPjjDeYWfpoz_hSDLfw
Spiritual Communion is a Christian practice of desiring union with Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist.
St Thomas Aquinas has defined this as “an ardent desire to receive Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament [in Communion at Mass] and in lovingly embracing Him as if we had actually received Him.”
Compose yourself as you would at Mass, desire the Lord’s presence in spirit, pray in thanksgiving for the gift of the Lamb of God, and receive the graces as if you had been able to partake in Holy Communion.
An Act of Spiritual Communion
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there
and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
